The Community Fund made funding available to Circles Around Dundee for a project now known as Dreamatchers from July 2001 until 30th June 2004.

The project was set up to facilitate the creation of ‘circles of support’ around individuals (referred to as the ‘focus person’).

It promotes social inclusion and works towards improving individuals’ quality of life by:

  • focusing on the development of supportive relationships
  • helping to establish and maintain supportive networks
  • focusing on abilities, gifts and talents of individuals
  • building bridges between people with learning disabilities and/or autism and others in the community who could help them achieve their goals.

Much of what is contained in the learning disabilities review the “Same as you?” mirrors what we are trying to achieve.
