Stephen's Story

Stephen was referred by a Head Teacher. He did not talk much, nor have any friends. Now he has a circle, he has friends and his self-esteem, confidence and communication have improved as a direct result of having a circle of friends around and supporting him. From originally only having four volunteers, Stephen's circle has grown and he now has friends in his circle. His class teacher, from being a bit doubtful about Stephen's participation and the benefits of him having a circle, has since volunteered to help out at The Scorpion's summer outing with Dreamtime, and also offered herclassroom as a venue for circle meetings. More recently, from Stephen not talking or joining in, to being fully included into everyday school life where he is today; for example Stephen has been chosen to act as a school monitor at lunchtimes. He has friendship, he is included - fantastic!
