We need to have some Choice and control of our lives and not have all decisions about our lives made for us by others. We all need to share ordinary places in the community and not be segregated and kept apart. We should be allowed to share our gifts and experiences and make our contribution to the community and we need to have that sense of belonging that we have among friends or associates. We need to have a sense of being someone and have a value in our community. A registered charity since 2001 our Management Committee is formed with 51% of people with the label learning disability and or/ autism or their carers.

We are guided by John O'Brien's Five Dimensions of Inclusion:-

We all need to have a sense of these things to be happy and healthy

The values and principles of the organisation are that:

  • No-one should be excluded because of their ability, race, age, gender or religion
  • Friendships are essential to everyone
  • People should be accepted for who they are
  • Respect for others
  • People can help each other to find answers
  • Everyone should be respected as individuals
  • Respect must be shown for people's dreams, ambitions and goals
  • Together, people are stronger

Working with the individual's strengths, gifts and capacities we offer support to that is directed by the participant towards having a 'good life'.
