Circle of Friends

What is a Circle of Friends? -----------------------------------

'Circle of Friends' are groups of children and young people who have volunteered from the child or young person's class within their school, or group within their community, who have agreed to meet together in the hope that natural friendships will develop and the child shall then be socially included to enjoy ordinary activities within their circle of friends, life of the school and their local community.

Why start a Circle of Friends?

A Dreamtime circle facilitator will help the child or young person to become involved in activities and make friends. We will help plan activities and ask for ideas to help everyone get to know each other better. The school, group or family will need to provide a place for the Circle of Friends to meet, that the child or young person is happy with. Everybody will try to make it welcoming, friendly and fun.

The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child:-
Details 2 articles in INCLUSIVE PLAY: Article 23; The right to active participation in the community & Article 31; The right to play and leisure.
