Audrey's
Story
The project worker explored with Audrey
her interests, skills and abilities and
the many avenues of work opportunities
available to her.
Audrey
shared her graphics from the person centred
planning meeting, with the local volunteering
centre, allowing the manager access to
her personal history, which she could
see at a glance, without having to ask
Audrey lots of questions or fill out forms.

Philyppa, manager of Helping Hands, the voluntary organisation, made suggestions to Audrey based on that information,
the graphics above. From that one meeting Audrey is now successfully working on a weekly basis as a volunteer in a local
Independent Day Centre, supported by a team of volunteers, who have happily taken on the role of mentor and coach to Audrey,
involving her in team meetings, planning of the activities and training, to further her development.
Her role; to support the team in providing a friendly stimulating environment for elderly people who attend the Day Centre
for lunch and activities both within the centre and local communities.
Audrey is now part of the team, has upgraded her skills in communication, problem solving, team working, planning and organising,
taking responsibility for the choices and decisions she makes and has now grown in confidence, recently sharing her experience,
speaking at our annual gathering.
